Prayers and Intentions

PRAYERS and COMMUNITY INTENTIONS

We come together as a community to pray with and for one another.

"But God has so constructed the body as to give greater honor to a part that is without it, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy."

1 Corinthians 12: 24-26

Weekly Prayers of the Faithful

SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - January 19, 2025

❖ For the Church: that inspired by Mary’s words, we may become better disciples by doing all that God asks of us.

❖ For the unity of all Christians: that God will heal the wounds in the body of Christ and help us to give common witness to God through prayer, and through acts of loving compassion.

❖ For our country: that God will heal the divisions and animosity that exist, and help leaders to work together to address the issues of those who are suffering and those in need.

❖ For all who are inspired by the work and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., those who work for social and racial justice in our society: may they faithfully give witness to the Good News that all people are beloved children of our One God.

❖ For all who have lost their lives in, or who have been displaced by, the wildfires in Los Angeles; for the consolation of those who have lost loved ones; for the firefighters and rescuers, and for a swift end to this tragedy.

❖ For all who are ill, that God will bring wholeness to all who are sick, and give strength to all healthcare workers.

❖ For all our beloved who have died, may they live in the eternal glory of God around the heavenly banquet.

JANUARY 2025:

For the right to an education

Let us pray for migrants, refugees, and those affected by war, that their right

to an education, which is necessary to build a better world, might always be

respected.

Soul of Jesus sanctify me; Blood of Jesus wash me

Passion of Jesus comfort me; Wounds of Jesus hide me

Heart of Jesus receive me; Spirit of Jesus enliven me

Goodness of Jesus pardon me; Beauty of Jesus draw me

Humility of Jesus humble me; Peace of Jesus pacify me

Love of Jesus inflame me; Kingdom of Jesus come to me

Grace of Jesus replenish me; Mercy of Jesus pity me

Sanctity of Jesus sanctify me; Purity of Jesus purify me

Cross of Jesus support me; Nails of Jesus hold me

Mouth of Jesus bless me in life, in death, in time, and eternity.

Prayer for the Deceased

In your hands, O Lord,

we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.

In this life you embraced them with your tender love;

deliver them now from every evil

and bid them eternal rest.

The old order has passed away:

welcome them into paradise,

where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,

but fullness of peace and joy

with your Son and the Holy Spirit

forever and ever.

Amen.

Prayers by St. Ignatius

SUSCIPE

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,

my memory, my understanding,

and my entire will,

All I have and call my own.

You have given all to me.

To you, Lord, I return it.

Everything is yours; do with it what you will.

Give me only your love and your grace,

that is enough for me.

PRAYER FOR GENEROSITY

Lord, teach me to be generous,

to serve you as you deserve;

to give and not to count the cost;

to fight and not to heed the wounds,

to toil and not to seek for rest,

to labor and not to ask for reward,

save that of knowing that I do your will.
