Alan Nissila

Originally an Oregonian, born and raised in Portland, educated at the University of Oregon in Eugene, (Go Ducks!) Alan has been involved in liturgical music since he was in high school. After moving to Sacramento, he became involved in the music ministry at St. Philomene, directing their choir from 1990 through 2015. He was also involved in various musical roles at St. Francis parish in midtown, notably leading a weekly Taizé prayer service for 30 years. He joined the St. Ignatius music team in 2002, and moved into the role of Liturgy Director in 2015. On his off time, when not practicing the piano or organ, he enjoys hiking, RVing, walking the dogs, or working in the yard.
